AutoMile 2.0 Documentation

Locations

Locations represent the places that you went (or will go to). Each location consists of a name and an address (or a set of coordinates). A location needs to be recognized by Apple's Maps service to work properly.

Add a New Location

To add a new location, you can click the [+] button in the toolbar. Or choose Add Location… (⌘L) from the Actions menu. A New Location popover will appear where you can type in a name and address for the new location.

As you type, the location will be shown on the map. If the location isn't found, a pin will not appear on the map. If the location cannot be found, you can click and hold for a second on the map to drop a pin wherever you would like it to be. After a pin as been placed on the map, it can be dragged to reposition the location.

Edit an Existing Location

To edit an existing location, double-click on a location in the Locations table that you want to edit.

Import Locations

AutoMile supports importing locations from vCard files. Drag one or more vCard files to the Locations table to import the addresses contained in the vCard(s). vCards can also be dragged from Apple's Address Book or Microsoft Outlook (as well as other sources).

The Default Location

You can set a particular location as your default location. You can change your default location by choosing Set as Default Location from the Action menu.

Most business-related trips take place between the same starting and ending locations, usually your place of work or your home. Marking your starting location as your default location greatly speeds data entry. You can quickly insert your default location into the current day's itinerary from Actions > Insert Default Location (⌘D).
